Polly Chesser For Owen County Council

Hello!  My name is Polly Chesser and I am running for County Council At Large.  I am a lifelong resident of Owen County.  My husband, Rob, and I have a successful farming business where we have raised our four amazing sons.  For 32 years I have been the financial planner and have been solely responsible for the marketing decisions for our grain farming business.  Our family has been active in the community by being involved in 4H as well as other county organizations.

I am a proud military mom as I have two sons, Ethan and Kirby, currently serving.  Our second son, Clay partners in our family farm and our third son, Lincoln is going to college.  Our two oldest sons, Ethan and Clay and their wives, Rebecca and Hope, have decided to call Owen County their home as well.  This is the main reason I have decided to run for county council.  I want to be a part of the process of growing Sweet Owen into the county it was meant to be for my children and my grandchildren.

My degree in business has taught me the importance of having a vision for the future.  Proverbs 29:18 states “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”  I have also seen the significance of working together and balancing the budget in my 32 years of managing our family farm. The good people of Owen County work hard for their money.  What they work for should mean something.  It means something to me.  I want to help them keep more of it.  I have worked in a group setting to accomplish tasks while being a  Farm Credit Advocate and serving on the Owen County Extension Advisory Board. These experiences have been a great foundation for me to become a council member.  Although the above attributes will help me do my best as a member of the council, I feel my greatest asset is my love for God, family and for Owen County.
